The upper stage intermodal container is a kind of special container which is mainly used for protecting and delivering the upper stage of the aircraft during long-distance transportation or removing them between the workshops,launching sites,etc.Now the standardization,seriation and large-scale is becoming the trend of the upper stage designing.To develop a new kind of intermodal container used for delivering the upper stage from Tianjin main assembly works to Hainan launching sites by land and sea with enough safety,high efficiency and low cost will speed up the space industry of our country.This paper is based on the delivering and storage demand of a certain upper stage.Taking the container of the upper stage as study object,to use a kind of way of process-oriented analysis and according to the structure strength,size,load,hoisting,and intermodal requirement of the upper stage container,take fully study the special technical requirement,general planning,and designed the key components such as container cover,base,transfer rack,slings etc.which makes the container could be delivered by both sea and land with moisture proof,shock-absorbing and easy operation.While designing the overall structure of the container and the transfer rack,Abaqus finite element software was used to analyze the overall rigidity and strength.The results show that the rigidity and strength of the whole hoisting,shipping,road transport and other conditions meet the demand.Successfully developed the upper stage container,and carried out performance tests such as loading,lifting,transportation,etc.The results verify the rationality of the overall design of the upper packaging.The overall structural design of the the upper stage container body includes a split top cover and a split chassis.The cover is designed as a square structure.The paper carried out innovative design of container structure strength,heat preservation,double sealed,moisture proof,dust proof,hoisting,guiding,positioning,lifting,transport easily,etc.The transfer rack was designed with integrated vibration-absorbing aprons and cable-type shock absorbers to protect the aircraft effectively and also could be used for other containers.The spreader is designed to lift by four-point beam which could be used for lifting the lid,base or the whole structure with enough safety and high efficiency,also spreader meet the requirement of moisture proof,vibration-absorbing,easy operation etc.The container and transport rack are designed and verified by finite element analysis software with a reasonable structure,and the safety factor of strength is greater than 1.5,the elastic deformation amount in the rigidity is not more than 4mm,no plastic deformation,which meets the requirements for lifting and intermodal transportation.
