| Port of Guangzhou has been a significant port since very ancient time.It has a long history with sustainable development.In Qin and Han Dynasty,Port of Guangzhou is the starting point of ancient Maritime Silk Road.In Tang and Song Dynasty,Chinese Central Government set up the first officials in Guangzhou to control and manage international trade.In Ming and Qing Dynasty,Port of Guangzhou was the only opening port to the world.Port of Guangzhou continued its development in recent and modern times.In the period of the Republic of China,the founding of the Republic of China proposed to build a southern port in Guangzhou.In the early days of liberation,Port of Guangzhou Huangpu Port was formed.In the early days of the founding of the people's Republic of China,under Premier Zhou Enlai's proposal "three years to change the face of the port",Port of Guangzhou managed to further expansion.In the period of China's Reform and Opening-up policy,Port of Guangzhou achieved the goal to be a million ton big port.In 21 Century,Guangzhou Port Nansha Port Area was built up with large capacity just like rebuilt another Guangzhou Port.The open of Nansha Port made the Port to realize the historic leap from an estuarine port to be a seaport,and made it entering in the world top ten ports.Guangzhou Port container business accelerated development under the upgraded position and policy guidance such as Nansha free trade port In 2008,national Nansha new area in 2012,Guangdong(Nansha)free trade test area in 2014,construction of Guangzhou international shipping center three year action plan since 2015 and the instruction stressed by Guangdong provincial Governors that to build Nansha into a high level opening hub of Guangdong.In 2017,China's Central Government formally proposed the strategy of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Great Bay area.The cities,industries and enterprises within the Great Bay Area have actively started to explore their respective positioning and development strategies under the background of great bay area.Guangzhou port as an important historical,realistic and strategic southern port,how to make further development under the new environment should be seriously consider.With the development of international containerization,container business and throughput has already been significant criteria for a port comprehensive strength and international position.This papertakes Guangdong-Macau-HongKong Greater Bay Area as the background,and compares the Great Bay Area with the other well known Bay Area.Through that,this paper analyzes the successful Bay Area conditions and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Great Bay Area's features and advantages.Meanwhile,this paper also analyzes the interaction between Bay Area and the port and takes Guangzhou Port container business as researching object.It firstly reviews Guangzhou Port container business history and present by using PEST,Potter's five force model,SWOT,Hinterland generation,route analysis and other qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze Guangzhou Port container business environment and predict volumes.This paper will also consider the reality of the port as well as the Greater Bay Area background to make Guangzhou Port container business the strategy and advises some specific methods to achieve the strategy and goals such as expansion,integration,information,going global,comprehensive logistics,talent building,policy oriented etc.Through this paper,hopefully it could be some practical significance to Guangzhou Port container business future development. |
