Renovation Of Historical Buildings Based On Spirit Of Place

In this study,firstly,I take the historical cultural theme family inns in Gu Langyu as objects,and carry on researches and analyses on their current situation and space-form according to field research.Then,from the perspective of spirit of place,I summarize the characteristics of architecture style,the origins,and some renovation approaches of historical buildings in Gu Langyu.Finally,based on the specific natural and cultural environment of Gu Langyu,I try to apply these methods to the renovation design of the former site of Germany's Qianji Foreign Company.This study consists of three sections:Chapter 1 is the first section,elaborating the research background,source,and significance.In this section,I make a combing to related theories and current research situation,clarify relevant conceptions,and state some contributions,research methods,and research framework of this study.Section 2 consists of Chapter 2 and Chapter 3,which is the core part of this paper.Chapter 2 discusses the history and current situation of the family inns in Gu Langyu,emphasizing the characteristics of the historical cultural theme family inns.Further,I select eight among them to give specific analysis.In Chapter 3,from the start,I make analyses and summaries on the design style of historical buildings in Gu Langyu based on the spirit of place.Then,emphasize the origin of these buildings,i.e.the specific space,time,and environment of Gu Langyu,and finally,from the perspective of spirit of place,I bring forward some renovation methods from four aspect,including structure rehabilitation,space construction,material usage,and community development.The last but not least is the third section--Chapter 4.Following a brief background introduction,I apply the above-mentioned methods to the renovation design of the former site of Germany's Qianji Foreign Company,trying to combine theory with practice.
