Since ancient times,Jiangxi has a beautiful scenery, outstanding people, and rich historical and cultural heritage. The ancient brilliant economy and culture in Jiangxi area created its unique charm and connotation of the Confucian Temple Garden.Confucian temple gardens are a part of Chinese classical gardens, but their research is often neglected. As a result of many wars or movements in history, most of the Confucian temple gardens have been annihilated in the historical changes, and most of the preserved Confucian temples are architectural forms. Most of the interior landscape sketches have disappeared, and the current research fields are mostly concentrated on the architectural and cultural levels. The research direction of this paper mainly focuses on the location relationship between ancient Confucian temples and city pools in Jiangxi, the relationship between the disposal and utilization of surrounding mountains and waters in the site selection of the Confucian temples, and the landscape layout inside the Confucian temples. The research adopts the methods of historical documents,on-site investigation, comparison, analysis and induction to analyze the artistic characteristics of the Confucian Temple gardens in Jiangxi. This study is mainly divided into four parts: the first part describes the basic situation of Jiangxi in natural geography and social economy;the second part studies the development and evolution of Jiangxi Confucian Temple Gardens, which originated from the Western Jin Dynasty, developed greatly in the Tang and Song Dynasties, and finally matured in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The third part summarizes the characteristics of gardens in different periods through specific examples;and the third part is the paper’s.Emphasis is laid on the study of ancient Confucian temple gardens in Jiangxi from the aspects of site selection, temple layout, landscape elements and spatial pattern. The common artistic techniques and cultural connotations of Confucian temple gardens are analyzed. The fourth part systematically summarizes the characteristics of Confucian temple gardens in Jiangxi, and analyses the existing Confucian temples, and draws the track of their historical evolution, and the process of protection and utilization of the temples.Suggestions are given.According to the previous discussion, this paper summarizes the characteristics of Jiangxi Confucian Temple Garden and draws the following conclusions: the importance of geomantic omen in Jiangxi’s regional culture is deeply reflected in the site selection of the Confucian Temple;the Confucian Temple is officially owned and belongs to the government, forming a "temple-school integration" layout in the long-term development;the function gradually evolves into a sacrifice-oriented,and the school gradually becomes its vassal; The layout embodies the traditional Confucian ritual system everywhere;is good at borrowing scenery outside the garden and integrating it with it;pursues the unity of man-made and nature in the garden artistic conception, especially in traditional gardens.Through this study, combined with field surveys and mapping, and on the protection and utilization of the Confucian temples in Jiangxi Province, and other issues,at the same time for the current revival of Confucianism to make a certain contribution.
