Confucian temple is a temple building to commemorate and sacrifice Confucius, but also an architectural embodiment of traditional Chinese Confucianism and Its Enlightenment order. The rise and development of Confucianism influenced the cultural, educational, political and economic forms of China's feudal period for more than 2000 years. As an important material carrier of its ideological dissemination,Confucian temple has the symbolic significance of the orthodox cultural status of Confucianism. In the development and evolution of the past dynasties,it has gradually formed an institutionalized and unified construction system. In the northern region, including the birthplace of Confucian temple in Lu,the capital area where the central government of yuan,Ming and Qing Dynasties was located, the Chang'an area where the central government of Han and Tang Dynasties was located, and the border area where the northern ethnic minorities and Han culture were integrated, are the important historical curtain of the evolution of Confucian temple system in China. The City Confucian temple is more systematic and representative than the village Confucian temple and other folk Confucian temples built spontaneously.Through the investigation of local chronicle map,we can analyze and study the development of Confucian temple and the construction of Confucian temple system in northern cities from the perspective of ancient city planning and the evolution of Confucian temple spatial relationship. Therefore, this study takes the City Confucian temple in northern China(Beijing,Tianjin,Hebei,Shanxi,Shandong,Henan,Heiji,Liaoning,Shaanxi,Gansu,Ningxia and Mongolia)as the object, from the perspective of macro development, respectively, from the historical distribution of Confucian temple, the relationship between the city and temple, courtyard form and building monomer, four spatial scales.
