| Pneumatics industry is the foundation of general industry.In the past few years,with the development of modern machining,IT and smart manufacturing,the request from the customers had been changed as well.There is keen competition between the pneumatic manufacturers’customers.So the customers not only need products with high quality,but also customized pneumatic products which could add more value to their own products.In the tough enviroment,pneumactic manufactorers have to develop the customized products in a very short term with satisfied function and quality.However,most pneumatic companies have met the difficulties of long-term product developmetn,high R&D investment and high failure rate of new prducts.They can not meet the request from their customers and hence losing the market share to their competitors.I believe a well organized development process for customized pneumatics products would be the key to this problem.Literature review and case analysis are the key methods of the study.This paper focus on the theories related to project management,especially project risk management and the key tool of the quality management system TS16949,which is Advanced Product Qualitly Planning(APQP).And the main study is set up based on the case analysis on the new product development project process optimization of company X.At the beginning introduce a typical pneumatic manufactorer–Company X,briefed its current business and business model.Then analyse its current new product development process,which is based on APQP.This company had faced several problems in its new product development especially onthe customized products.The research used work breakdown structure to normalize it’s current product development process and then tried to find out the root cause to the problems.The countermeasures are found out after investment and brainstorm.And the key to resolve the problems is setting up fast track new product development process for the customized products.In the next chapter,the study is about how to set up the fast track process.First step is to set up the project risk analyze scorecard by using risk pre-analytical method and risk identification method.This helps to identify the low risk projects which should go through fast track process.The next step is to establish the 2nd level of work breakdown structure for the fast track process,using methodologies of APQP and project management.And set up standard document templates for tools used in the process,this helps to minimize time spent on hand writing.This paper introduces the implementation of the fast track new product development process in X company.Using risk analysis method helps finding out that 60%of the projects were low risk projects.Those projects could be managed through fast track process.The good combination of project management and APQP in fast track process lead to an excellent result of quality,time,cost and risk control.It helps to improve the finish rate of new projects from 66%to 77%,and the average project finish time on customized new products has been shortened into average 11 months.This could help to better fulfilling customer needs and create advantage against competitors.Finally,try to make some further improvements based on the problems occurred during the implementation..Through the study on fast track APQP process for customized pneumatic products,helps improving the new product development process in Company X,which shorten the product development time.The method in this paper is a good reference for setting up new product development process in Pneumatic industry. |
