After more than forty years of rapid growth,China's economy is facing a prominent contradiction between low-end overcapacity and insufficient advanced capacity,the mismatch between supply structure and demand structure has seriously restricted the further economic development.In this context,the supply-side structural reform emerged,with the main purpose of improving the quality and efficiency of the supply system,while the cultivation of engineering and scientific talents is a crucial factor in realizing this reform.The development level and quality of engineering education in universities are closely related to the core competitiveness of the country which determines the status of a country in the global value chain division and undertakes the arduous task of providing new talent resources for China's economy.However,the current engineering education in China has a series of problems to be solved: the teaching content teaching content is too outdated to apply in the actual production;the discipline structure is not reasonable;talent cultivation does not match industry development.Therefore,it is necessary to carry out the research on the reform of engineering education in China's colleges and universities under the background of supply-side reform,and put forward targeted solutions for above problems.Through this research,this paper holds that: engineering education in colleges and universities as the supply side of engineering and technical human capital,because of the gap between the technology demand and the deficiency of the discipline structure and training content.Despite a year-on-year increase in enrollment,but the fact is,new engineering technical talents are still in shortage,the engineering education in colleges and universities act slowly in responding the problems,the vague idea of running a school and the convergence of orientation lead to the decline of training quality,there is a lack of effective and effective talent management and evaluation mechanisms,and the imbalance between the employment environment and structure is highlighted.Therefore,based on several successful cases in the reform of engineering education,this paper puts forward some suggestions for the reform of engineering education in colleges and universities to to conform with supply-side reform supply-side reform: First,giving full play to the traditional school-running tradition,highlight the school-running characteristics and strengthen the superior engineering disciplines;second,following the direction of scientific and technological development,get close to the actual industry development,and innovate scientific and technological achievements;third,serving the overall situation of local development,and commercialize of scientific and technological achievements;fourth,deepening the reform of Engineering education,promote the integration of industry and education,thus cultivating outstanding engineering talents.
