Wuwei, formerly known as Liangzhou,is located in the northwest arid area and the edge of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau.Wuwei is formed by the oasis shaped by Shiyang River. In its land area, mountain area accounts for 25.8 %,plain area accounts for38.9 %,and desert area accounts for 35.5 %.It is a typical desert oasis city. The local residential buildings are built on the basis of adapting to the local arid and cold climate, forming the regional characteristics of introversion, closure and thick wall.In recent years, under the influence of social and economic development, industrial structure change, population change and policy driven changes, there are many types of rural housing renewal. This paper summarizes the current situation of rural housing, optimizes the design according to the existing problems, and has important reference value for the development of modern rural housing in Wuwei. The formation of houses is affected by the user's behaviors and the multiple influences of natural and social conditions. From the perspective of architectural typology, building materials, dimensions and decoration styles are the secondary contradictions that affect the development of architecture.Starting from the internal relationship between occupants' behavior patterns and residential space patterns, analyzing the current status of rural residences in Wuwei area and optimizing them specifically is the main research content.Focusing on the two factors that affect the development of housing--the user main body and the external natural social environment, through field surveying, literature research and questionnaire survey, based on the internal relationship between the occupants' behavior and the building space, the rural houses classification research.Based on the analysis of the current architectural elements, functional composition, occupant lifestyle, satisfaction and other characteristics of different types of residences, the evolution of the courtyard house is summarized: the housing function is imperfect, the per capita living area is inadequate and the courtyard area is wasted seriously, the circulation lines are crossed, and the old-age facilities in the elderly housing are insufficient. In the evolution law, there are some solutions to the current problems, which also give some enlightenment to further optimization.Based on the current situation of rural houses in Wuwei area, combined with the specific living needs of residents and the impact of natural conditions, building materials and technological development, optimize the design of each functional space and improve the indoor physical environment.Based on the premise of the corresponding relationship between living patterns and building types, through analyzing the family structure and lifestyle characteristics of residents, and summarizing different types of residential living patterns, the functional space combination patterns corresponding to different family patterns are also derived. On this account, the optimization plan is designed. The optimization scheme design is based on different living modes as the premise. In combination with the method of optimizing the design of each functional space obtained in Chapter 4,the optimal layout design of different types of rural dwellings according to different functional classifications is carried out.Combined with the local traditional residential space layout prototype and residents' needs, through the layout reorganization, living space renewal, functional filling and replacement, design of general space and other methods, complete the optimization design of different types of housing.
