Pingyao Confucian Temple is located in the southeast corner of Pingyao Ancient City,sitting north to south, it is a national key cultural relics protection units, and the largest Temple in Shanxi, with functions of both temple and school.The main building,Great Hall, was reconstructed in Kim Dading three years(1163), which is one of the two Jin Dynasty Temple in our country, has the beautiful charm of the Song Dynasty architecture.Fully referenced Local Chronicles and the current academic research,this dissertation makes a deep research on the historical changes and the structure change of Pingyao Confucian Temple, it is presented in tabular form.Divided the history of Pingyao Confucian Temple into six stages,which is Since the Ming jiajing eight years(1529),analysis of the formation of the construction size in each stage.Under the effected of complex factors,which is the Fengshui Theory,the climate, the layout of the county,and the Religious culture,Pingyao Confucian Temple have moved three times.Using of the Temple map in the local chronicles and the plan which is surveying and mapping by myself,I study the characteristics of the layout of Pingyao Confucian Temple,parse its courtyard space organization and road style.The study found that there was a road connected the Pingyao Confucian Temple and the ancient wall.It promoted the communication between the Confucian temple and the city space,this phenomenon is extremely rare in the country.The Dacheng Hall of Pingyao Confucian Temple uses a oblique beam to replacethe middle bucket arch.Such an approach is not only an isolated case in existing structure of the Jin Dynasty, but also for the isolated cases of Confucious' temple construction in Shanxi area.In addition,the Double Chashou,the Airfoil Gong,the Pope Fang and some other component's form showed the local characteristics of Shanxi wood construction,and also reflected the age characteristics of the building itself.
