Study On The Activation Of The Area Of Bifengtang In Wantou Ancient Town Of Yangzhou From The Perspective Of Place Memory

With the development of globalization,the trend of international architecture is spreading all over the country.In the context of the convergence of urban development,historical ancient towns that can inherit the urban context are also facing the dilemma of memory weakening or even dying out.Wantou ancient town of Yangzhou is a characteristic ancient town of Jiangsu Province,which has rich spiritual and material connotation and is an important memory place of Yangzhou history and culture.At present,there are many problems in the ancient town,such as poor spatial texture,poor landscape quality,and serious damage to the architectural style.The protection and inheritance of the historical and cultural memory of the ancient town are damaged.It is an urgent problem to protect these characteristic elements,to continue the memory of ancient town and to reshape the vitality of ancient town.Through the analysis and research on the Bifengtang area of the ancient town of Wantou in Yangzhou,this paper constructs the correlation between the place memory and the activation of the ancient town from the perspective of place memory.Then,based on the theory of place memory and operation mechanism,the paper analyzes the cases of vitality reconstruction in historical area,and summarizes the methods and ways of vitality construction.At the same time,this paper makes a field survey of the area of the ancient town of Wantou,and analyzes the memory elements of the area,the memory and cognition of the memory and current problems.Based on the case analysis and field investigation,this paper summarizes the activation principle of the area of the Bifengtang in Wantou ancient town,which is based on the place memory,including the humanization principle,the function adaptability principle,the memory continuity principle and the symbol element extraction publicity principle.Based on this principle,the paper concludes four strategic directions: continuing to optimize the spatial form of the site,improving the functional format of the area,expanding the dimension of memory communication and strengthening the public perception of the symbol elements.Then under the guidance of principles and strategies,the renewal design practice of rebuilding the vitality of the Bifengtang area is carried out.Through the research on the practice of the protection and renewal of the area of Bifengtang in Wantou ancient town,specifically including the renewal and inheritance of the space form,function structure,memory experience way and symbol element guidance of the place,so as to reshape the material space and spiritual environment of the area.Place memory can be inherited and carried forward through the reconstruction of material space and spiritual environment,while in the process of reexcavation and operation of memory,the area of Bifengtang in Wantou ancient town realizes the rejuvenation of vitality.The research results provide reference for the renewal of Wantou ancient town and other similar practices.
