| With the rapid development of rail transit in China,rail transit has played an increasingly important role in the development of urban traffic.The rail transit hub,which is the core of rail transit construction,its public space is the most closely connected part with urban space.It needs to serve both passengers and the public.As an important traffic node in the inter-city rapid rail transit network in the Pearl River Delta,Guangzhou East Railway Station is an important window for Guangzhou’s internal communication and opening to the outside world.Because of its special location on the new urban central axis of Guangzhou city,the connection between its public space and urban space is quite close.Since its establishment,Guangzhou East Railway Station has experienced more than 20 years of development,forming a unique hub form and public space pattern,but there are also many shortcomings and regrets.In this context,studying the development of Guangzhou East Railway Station and concluding a comprehensive evaluation of its public space,which are significant for the subsequent development of Guangzhou East Railway Station.With the development of the new urban central axis,Guangzhou East Railway Station has experienced many rounds of renovation and renewal.This paper studies the historical evolution of Guangzhou East Railway Station from the perspective of urban design,which will help to understand the characteristics of current spatial pattern of Guangzhou East Railway Station and explain the connection between its development process and urban development.Based on the current situation of Guangzhou East Railway Station,using Post-occupancy Evaluation to evaluate its public space can not only explore its current characteristics and existing problems,but also provide solutions for subsequent improvements.First of all,based on the research and analysis of relevant theories and actual cases of rail transit hubs,this paper summarizes the basic elements and characteristics of rail transit hubs and their public spaces,laying the foundation for the following parts.Secondly,through the combing the development of Guangzhou East Railway Station and the new central city axis,from the perspective of urban design,analyzing its historical evolution process and summarizing its development characteristics.Finally,studying the relevant theories of Postoccupancy Evaluation,then applying this method to the evaluation of the public space of Guangzhou East Railway Station.Based on the results of Post-occupancy Evaluation,concluding the comprehensive evaluation and discussing improvement strategy for current public space of Guangzhou East Railway Station. |
