Study On The Post Occupancy Evaluation And Improvement Strategy Of Wuchang Railway Station Plaza Space System

Under the wave of fast urban construction, being the medium and link with eachurban functional space, railway station plaza is being more and more important,meanwhile, its function of catalyzing the urban development becomes bigger.Nowadays, in order to fulfill the realistic need of diverse function and efficient transferefficiency, the railway station plaza has transferred to three-dimensional and compositespace configuration, which brings out the large traffic complex. Nevertheless, after therailway station plaza system being put into use, there always exists contradictionsbetween the original intention of design and realistic use, hindering the function ofcatalyzing urban development. Therefore, in the view of the passenger, the study on thePost Occupancy Evaluation of large railway station plaza becomes more and moreurgent.Based on the theory of POE and Space Syntax, this thesis aims to explore themethods applying to the POE on space system of Wuchang railway station plaza,putting forward the two methods of pedestrian path and space configuration.Afterwards, combining the relationship between pedestrian path and space system,teasing out the types of pedestrian path in space system of Wuchang railway stationplaza, evaluating and analyzing the pedestrian path’s morphological characteristics,pedestrian law, pedestrian pattern, the pattern of pedestrian combination and its effecton the pedestrian, to find the problems as lack of vitality, weak accessibility,comprehensibility of space in the space system of Wuchang railway station plaza.Furthermore, through the method of space configuration, using the software relating tospace syntax, quantitatively analyzing the space system of Wuchang railway stationplaza, to get the syntax figures like integration, connectivity, total depth and so on,evaluating and analyzing the space configuration of space system of Wuchang railwaystation plaza. Finally, combining the evaluating conclusions of POE based on themethods of pedestrian path and space configuration, putting forward the improvementstrategies of space system of Wuchang railway station plaza: strategy of spaceaccessibility, space identification and space order.
