The rapid construction and development of port berths and other infrastructure,especially the completion and operation of large-scale dock,have made waterway a key factor restricting the development of ports.In order to give full play to the port's work capacity,this paper studies the waterway transit capacity,and seeks ways to improve the waterway transit capacity without changing the existing navigation facilities,which plays a positive role in the development of the whole port.The main measures to improve the waterway transit capacity under the existing navigable conditions are to improve the organizational mode of inbound and outbound vessels by means of management so as to tap the potential of channel and make rational use of it.Changing the current mode of shipping traffic will certainly bring some risks to the navigation of the ship,but the corresponding safeguard measures can effectively reduce or avoid the navigation risks and ensure the safety of the ship.By reviewing of related literature at home and abroad,this paper studies the existing waterway transit capacity calculation method and model,analyzes the present situation of Fangcheng port waterway and arriving ship,summarizes the influencing factors of waterway transit capacity,and then selects typical ships of Fangcheng port,using Marine simulator to do navigation simulation tests,puts forward the measures that two-way navigation and the very-large ship lightens its load and enters the harbour with the tide,and makes a feasibility stud from the aspects of channel size and depth,etc.According to the size condition of each section of channel,the corresponding two-way navigation ship combination is given.In order to solve the problem that 200,000 ton bulk carriers can not berth at 19?22# berths according to the code,specific solutions are put forward in the aspects of channel width and water depth,roundabout water area and braking water area,etc.,and the berthing scheme of 200,000 ton bulk carriers at 19?22# berths is formed.Based on the ship domain model and traffic flow theory,the passage capacity of each channel section of Fangcheng port is calculated,and the passage capacity of the channel after the implementation of the corresponding measures is estimated.The results show that two-way navigation and the very-large ship lightens its load and enters the harbour with the tide can effectively improve the navigation capacity of the channel of Fangcheng port.
