Objective: To investigate the correlation between intravesical prostatic protrusion and urinary tract complications in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia. Methods: A total of 520 patients of benign prostate hyperplasia were diagnosed in the hospital from September 2017 to September 2019 and were divided into four groups: group A(IPP?10mm,176 cases),group B(10mm< IPP ?15mm,174 cases),group C(15mm<IPP?20mm,96 cases)and group D(IPP>20mm,74 cases)by the IPP.The age, ethnicity, course of disease, urinary tract complications(acute urinary retention, gross hematuria, urinary tract infection, hydronephrosis, bladder stone, renal dysfunction)and bladder trabecula of the four groups were analyzed.Furthermore, the ROC curve of IPP was used to predict urinary tract complications. Results: 1.There was a significant difference in the incidence of urinary tract complications between the four groups(P<0.05).2.The incidence of acute urinary retention, gross hematuria, hydronephrosis, renal dysfunction, and bladder stone were significantly different in the four groups of patients(P <0.05).But there was no significant difference in the incidence of urinary tract infection.3.Comparison of the four groups revealed significant differences in the incidence of acute urinary retention among patients in groups B,C,D and A(P<0.0083).There were significant differences in the incidence of gross hematuria and hydronephrosis among patients in groups D,C and A(P<0.0083).There was a significant difference in the incidence of renal function impairment and bladder stone between group D and group A(P<0.0083).4.There was a significant difference in the incidence of bladder trabeculae in the four groups(P<0.05).Comparison of the four groups revealed significant differences in the incidence of bladder trabeculae in groups B,C,D and A(P<0.0083).5.The area under the ROC curve of IPP in patients with urinary tract complications, acute urinary retention, hydronephrosis, renal impairment, gross hematuria, bladder stones, and bladder trabeculae were 0.722,0.620,0.610,0.613,0.635,0.672,0.641(P <0.05).6.There was no correlation between IPP and patient age(P>0.01),but there was a positive correlation between IPP and prostate volume, course of disease(r_s>0,P <0.01).Conclusion: The incidence of acute urinary retention, hydronephrosis, impaired renal function, gross hematuria, bladder stone, and trabecular trabeculae in patients with BPH increases with the degree of IPP.IPP can be a predictor of these complications and bladder trabeculae.
