Children's Fiction has been one of the hot points concerned by translators in recent years. There have been a great many English-Chinese translated works of Children's Fiction, but the research into the process and strategies of translation is not so much according to the data from CNKI.The report chooses Olive's Ocean(excerpts)as the source text to conduct translation practice and adopts New Mark's communicative translation as the guiding theory.Under the guidance of the theory, the paper discusses the difficulties in translating the SL text and then explores corresponding strategies through analyzing numerous examples. The paper consists of five chapters.Chapter One briefly explains research background and significance of the translation practice, and then introduces the writer and his novel Olive's Ocean.Chapter Two describes the three stages of translation process.Chapter Three discusses Newmark's communicative translation theory and application of it to translating the source text.Chapter Four analyzes the difficult points in translating the SL text and explores how to cope with them by using corresponding strategies and techniques.Chapter Five makes a summary of the translation report, including paper's limitations and the problems that can not be solved currently.
