With the development of the Silk Road economic belt,as well as the promotion of Silk Road heritage,Shaanxi province will be more and more important in the process of internationalization.Therefore,the number of foreign tourists,business people and students will be increased greatly.At the same time,the catering enterprises in Shaanxi Province will go abroad gradually,and Shaanxi snacks will be more and more popular in the international market.However,there is no systematic research found in the translation of Shaanxi snacks till now.Based on the reader's response theory,which leads people's attention to readers,the author made a systematic research about the translation of Shaanxi snacks.Firstly,in order to collect data,the author investigated the translation of Shaanxi snacks through visiting the major foreign-related hotels and some famous food streets near the attractions,and then the most representative 40 Shaanxi snacks were selected,which could be divided into six categories.After that,questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews to foreigners about their views and suggestions on the translation of Shaanxi snacks were conducted.After the research,many problems were found:textual selection are too literally,including the inappropriate choice of words,long-winded language,not unified translation,etc.All of these will undoubtedly impact the foreign visitors'understanding on Shaanxi snacks,hinder the spread of Shaanxi snacks and lower the influence of Shaanxi food culture.Therefore,based on the reader's response theory and consulted the suggestions given by the foreign tourists in questionnaire and interview,the author summarized some appropriate translation strategies for all the six categories of snacks respectively.For instance,one of the translation strategies of snacks directly named by materials should be "main ingredient+with+auxiliary materials";snacks named by the cooking method should be "cooking method+main ingredient";snacks named by the snack's shape or taste should be "taste(shape)+cooking method+main ingredient";snacks named by the birthplace should be"cooking method +main ingredient,birthplace+style";snacks reflecting Shaanxi's characteristic culture could use transliteration annotation,and so on.This research can make further contribution to the unification and standardization on the translations of Shaanxi snacks,spread the diet culture of Shaanxi dishes and help the foreign diners make a better understanding on the characteristics of Shaanxi local culture.
