Negative expression,as an important language category,enjoys a fairly high status either in Chinese ontology research or in that of Japanese.On the one hand,both Chinese and Japanese boast a flourishing development momentum in studying negative expression in the field of linguistics.While on the other hand,the comparative study on negative expression in Chinese and Japanese has yet gained a relatively satisfactory achievement.Therefore,it is necessary to conduct an even deeper study on similarities and differences of the two languages in negative expression.If any research theories being applied to the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language,especially to the practice of Chinese teaching towards Japanese students,the theories would play a reference and guidance role in Chinese teaching of negative expression.Given this,the paper will conduct discussion based on five aspects as follows:The paper contains five chapters.The introduction discusses mainly the intention,purpose and significance as well as current status and methods of the study.Chapter two is giving an overall summary on Chinese negative expression.It illustrates mainly about negative expression form aspects such as the usage of privatives "bu" and "mei(you)"("?" and "??" in Chinese,"no" and "without" in English),other expressions to convey negative meaning,scope and focus of negative expression,asymmetry between positive and negative expression,as well as double-negative expression.Chapter three,conducts a general summary on negative expression in Japanese.It discusses mainly about usage of privative and negative start-bound complement,scope and focus of negative expression,asymmetry between positive and negative expression,as well as double-negative expression.Chapter four,based on comparative analysis on three plane theory,analyzes the similarities and differences of negative expression in Japanese and Chinese comparatively.It conducts comparison and presence on word order,usage,focus of negative expression,asymmetry between positive and negative expression,as well as double-negative expression.Chapter five focuses more on practice than theory.It sums up Chinese usage error of negative expression and analyzes reasons causing it.Furthermore,it proposes four advices based on error and Chinese teaching for negative expression towards foreigners.The conclusion,as the last part of the paper,gives a summary and presence on main ideas and research achievements of the whole paper and proposes shortcomings of the research as well as expectation towards further study in the future.
