A Report On The Translation Of The Application For Intangible Cultural Heritage Of Taishan Nv'er Tea

This report is a summary and retrospection of the C-E translation of The Application for Intangible Cultural Heritage of Taishan Nv'er Tea,which was entrusted by Taishan Daoran Agricultural Science&Technology Co.,Ltd.Based on the features of the source text,the rules of the Skopos Theory are followed and relevant translation tactics are employed in the translation process.There are four chapters in this report.The first chapter introduces the background and requirement of the task.The second chapter describes the process including preparations,translation process(analysis,transfer and restructuring)and proofreading.The third chapter is the main body of this translation report.It elaborates the core content of Skopos Theory,the three principles and case analysis.Translation tactics guided by Skopos Theory are analyzed at lexical,syntactical and textual levels respectively.To be more specific,the methods of addition,omission and conversion are employed to translate words under the guidance of skopos rule;literal translation,free translation and word order rearrangement are used to handle the sentence translation under the guidance of coherence rule;and to achieve the coherence of the whole text,the translator used cohesive devices and cultural information.The last chapter is conclusion,which summarizes the translator's main contribution.The shortcomings and some suggestions of this translation practice are also included in this part so as to provide some references for future translation of similar text.
