As a student majoring in interpreting of MTI,the interpreter should regard any type of interpreting practice as a valuable learning opportunity.During the internship,the interpreter completed a consecutive interpreting task for seven Chinese workers induction training provided by Palabora Mining Company,Limpopo Province,the Republic of South Africa,during 29 and 30,in August 2016.Most of the interpreting work was done from English to Chinese,while during problems resolving period,the interpreting work went in both ways.This interpreting practice was required by the client to be accurate,understandable and informative.This practice report is based on the author's induction CI task,including the background description of this consecutive interpreting task,and the client requirements.Then,based on the process of interpreting,this report is divided into three parts,covering the preparation work before interpreting,interpreting process and the feedback from the client and self-evaluation after finishing the task.In the preparation part,the author uses the functional equivalence theory as the guiding theory of this consecutive interpreting practice.Also,some cases of this interpreting practice are analyzed with consideration of the guiding interpreting theory,and some tentative solutions are proposed by the author.At last,experience of interpreting in this installation related induction training gained by the author and some unsolved problems and confusions in interpreting study and practice will be presented with this practice and previous learning of the author,such as comprehension of the source speech,output of the target language and allocation of efforts during the interpreting process.
