With the advance of globalization,the communication in politics,economy and culture is becoming increasingly frequent and interpretation is also becoming an indispensable medium for cross-cultural communication.More foreigners are showing great interest in Chinese history and culture and choosing to study in or travel to China.As the medium of cultural communication and the messenger of promoting Chinese culture,interpreters shoulder increasingly important responsibilities.Most domestic experts are devoting their efforts to the study of conference interpretation,rather than the study of escort interpretation which is actually the most commonly used in cross-cultural communication.This report is written based on the escort interpretation in Yang Zirong Memorial Hall done by the author during the internship period.According to Nida's functional equivalence theory,this paper aims to study the obstacles in the process of escort interpreting and find out appropriate solutions.This practice report consists of four parts.Part one describes the background and features of this practice and the features include those of content and form.Part two explains the preparation,process and evaluation of this interpretation task.9.In Part three,case study is presented.The author classifies the types of problems occurred in the process of practice,analyzes the causes of the problems combining the cases.Besides the author adopts different translation strategies,including literal translation,free translation and replacement strategy to solve the problem of terminology issues and to analyze the problem of information deficiency caused by cognitive load and cultural deficiency.Part four is a summary of this interpretation practice.This practice report is intended to provide valuable experience for future interpretation work.It can also provide reference for other interpreters.
