| This project is comprised of two parts,of which the first one is the translation including a presentation of the first chapter of the book,News Analysis:Case Studies of International and National News in the Press by Teun A van Dijk,and the Chinese translation of the selected source text.The second part is a critical commentary,consisting of an analysis focusing on the difficulties during the translation process,and an application of its corresponding strategies.The critical commentary,as a whole,is divided into five sections,viz.an introduction to the project,a description of the theory,an analysis of the nominalisation,and its corresponding ideological and poetic features in the source text,strategies adopted in the translation,and finally a conclusion.Thanks to the rapid development of information technologies,news,as a significant platform for people to share knowledge and messages,occupies a much more important position and functions as a much more prominent role in our life.News Analysis:Case Studies of International and National News in the Press by Teun A van Dijk,by a theoretical analysis of a great amount of news reports with a new interdisciplinary stance,can function as an important theoretical guidance for readers to analyze,deconstruct,make,and improve a news discourse.Under the guidance of manipulation theory,and a combination with semantic translation,this project tries to figure out the relationship between nominalisation and ideological and poetic features in the source text so as to testify the necessity to restore its scientific features by keeping nominalisation in translation.Therefore,the target to help readers such as news readers,news makers,etc understand the structure,content and discourse of news reports from a cognitive respect and hence help them accept the theory as a reference by this translation will be reached. |
