On Strategies Of Translating Texts About Chinese Painting In The Son Dynasty From The Perspective Of Communicative Translation

With China's rising international status and the global spreading of Chinese culture,traditional Chinese culture has drawn a lot of attention from the world,especially the Chinese painting,which has a long history and a large potential international market.This trend has highlighted the significance of translating Chinese painting texts,but very little has been known about this kind of translation so far.The translation of Chinese painting texts focuses on the transmission of information,which is consistent with Newmark's communicative translation theory.Therefore,the theory of communicative translation serves as a theoretical guide in the paper.Taking the second volume of Chinese painting:Great Masters and Techniques as an example,the paper aims to analyze strategies of translating texts about Chinese painting in the Song Dynasty.During the translation,the translator found that there were many long and complicated sentences,terminologies,culture-loaded words,and quotations in the texts.These characteristics determined that the translator's primary task was to transfer information and make the translation readable.The paper attempts to show studies on the translation from two perspectives:language and culture.The language part includes studies on the translation of terminologies and long sentences.Terminology translation should be based on a full understanding of the original text.When translating long sentences,translators should follow the original order,divide the sentence into several pieces or translate from the end.The culture part include quotations,culture-loaded words,and cultural backgrounds.When it comes to quotations,translators should choose appropriate literature styles by combining features of the original texts and target readers.During the translation of culture-loaded words,translators need adopt appropriate strategies after looking up a large amount of information and understand the relevant backgrounds.To ensure the accuracy of the translation,translators should use amplification and other translation skills to make sure that the original texts are in line with the real condition.
