This is a report on English-Chinese translation of Australian political science book The Origins of Multiculturalism in Australian Politics 1945-1975,which is written by Australian writer Mark Lopez.The book describes Australian multiculturalism from assimilation to integration,and multiculturalism policy in details.Dr.Lopez provided a valuable resource for scholars and an explanation which is easy for readers to understand.This report is divided into four parts.,the third part is core content of this paper,and analyzes translation strategies and methods used in process of translation with practical cases.According to characteristics of translated text,under the guidance of domestication translation strategy,starting with difficult sentences and complex sentences,the author discusses and analyzes various translation methods used in translation from two aspects:passive voice translation and attributive clause translation.Main translation methods adopted include active,comprehensive,transliteration,preposition,postposition and dissolution.In process of translation,the author understands that it is also necessary to be a qualified interpreter in order to be honored and pragmatic.The author hopes this practical report can provide some reference for literary translators.
