Based on such a situation, this paper intends to analyze methods used in translating English attributive clauses. Before translating, the translator firstly tagged the attributive clauses and had them classified. Secondly the translator analyzed three primary functions of attributive clause as well as the type of the original source text, which include: Informational function,Communicative function and Syntactic function. Based on the translating methods and principles put forward by the Chinese scholars Ye Zinan, Zhang Peiji, the author has at last concluded the translating methods of attributive clauses which have been adopted during the translating process, and analyzed the using of methods in translating the research examples in this paper.Through analysis, the author found that the by using the methods of preposition, postposition, division and conversion, the translator can faithfully and effectively reproduce the information contained in the original text.Through the study of the translating methods of attributive clauses and the application of the methods in translating the text, the author has realized that while translating attributive clauses, the translator should above all accurately understand the meaning of the original text, analyze the structure of the attributive clause and find the very antecedent it modifies; then the translator should flexibly adopt appropriate translating methods with a full understanding of the context, and thus offer a clear and coherent translated text that is loyal to the original text.
