A Project Report On The C-E Translation Of Tourist Publicity Materials Of Huixian River Park

As the window to the outside world,tourist publicity materials demonstrate the glory of China.The appropriate translation of tourist publicity materials of high quality can not only attract overseas tourists and boost the tourism industry but also transmit the Chinese culture and enhance cross-cultural communication.This project report is based on the translation of Tourist Publicity Materials of Huixian River Park which includes the brief introduction to the Huixian River Park(hereinafter referred as "the Park"),the introductions to scenic spots and the public signs in the park.After analyzing the characteristics and the function of the source text,the author thinks Translation Variation Theory is appropriate for the translation of Tourist Publicity Materials of the Park.According to Translation Variation Theory,the author should adopt appropriate adaptations to meet the specific needs of specific readers under specific conditions.This report discusses the translation from three aspects as follows:linguistic level,aesthetic level and cultural level.Specifically,adaptations of editing and combination can be used to deal with the translation of run-on water sentences,long sentences and similar information;adaptations of deletion,editing and rewriting can be adopted to deal with the translation of parallel structures,four-character expressions and exclamatory sentences;and adaptations of addition,combination and condensation can be employed to deal with the translation of culture-loaded words,names of wars and poems.In a word,as a kind of pragmatic text,the translation of tourist publicity materials must meet the special needs of the target readers.
