A Report On The E-C Translation Of Passive Sentences Of Global Shocks

As the core of modern economy,finance is the bond that strengthens international cooperation.English is the common international language and a bridge for international communication.Therefore,the translation of financial English becomes increasingly prominent.At the same time,many passive sentences are used in Global Shocks that belongs to financial text.Thus it can be seen that the translation of passivesentences is of great significance in financial English translation.Unfortunately,researchers have been doing much more researches on the translation of subordinate clauses than the translation of passive sentences.This report is based on the translation of passive sentences that are included in the introduction and chapters one to three of the first part of Global Shocks.The translation methods of common passive sentences are summarized as follows:1.Using different Chinese Characters to express passiveness.The English passive sentences can be translated into sentences with the Chinese characters of 由(you),为……所(wei……suo),受(shou),得以(deyi),,可(ke),被(bei)or是……的(shi……de)and so on.2.Changing the voice.If there is no agent in a sentence,the passive sentence of English can be translated into Chinese active sentence.3.Adding or deleting subject.If the agent is unclear in a sentence,the implicit subject can be added to convert the sentence into infinitival-impersonal sentence;while if the agent is not covered in a sentence about the nature of things,the sentence can be translated into Chinese sentence without subject.4.Converting constituent of sentence flexibly based on sentence meaning.Adverbials can be translated into subjects and subjects can be translated into objects.The author sums up the translation methods of passive sentences through the generalization of passive sentences in the text in order to provide a reference for translators who translate this type of text,and help cultivate high-quality translation talents.
