This report is based on the E-C translation of the first three chapters of CFA: Financial Reporting and Analysis,a text book published by KAPLAN SCHWESER Company.CFA certificate is one of the certificates that prove profound financial knowledge. As China's financial sector is growing at a rapid pace, the shortage of high-level financial talents emerges, and the demand for acquiring the certificate keeps increasing as well as related text books and reference books. The book is of great importance to those who participate in the CFA exam(level1).The report selects the third book of the serial,as an accurate understanding and rational analysis of financial statement is the fundamental skill of analysts. The first three chapters introduce the financial report analysis, balance sheet, cash flow statement and income statement. The translator works on the material and conducts self-reflection after the translation in the aim of helping domestic participants better understand the western financial system. The source text is rather concise and simple, but filled with terminology. It represents a certain degree of expertise, which means it is not easy for those do not have any related knowledge to understand. So the translator does a lot of researches.During the translation process, the major difficulties are the translation of long sentences and passive sentences. To make the target text more understandable and comply with Chinese reader's habits, the translator adopts restructuring and division methods to deliver the message in terms of long sentences. As for passive sentences, one method is converting the passive sentences into active;the other is retaining the passive voice. The coping strategies to the above problems are helpful in translating the similar financial articles and the translator sincerely hopes the report could provide useful information.
