Currently,China's foreign aid is undergoing a rapid development with the number of seminars for international officials keeping on rising every year. The seminars cover a wide range of topics, such as economy and trade, entrepreneurship,HR management,NGOs,city planning, urban management, women education, manufacturing, transportation and logistics, international relations, and architecture. On one hand, these seminars offer MTI students plenty of internship opportunities. On the other hand, lacking in practical experience and professional knowledge, these MTI students may provide less satisfactory interpreting services, which may affect the overall effect of the seminars.Analyses of the seminars' features and interpreting difficulties, discussions about interpreters' coping strategies, and summaries of lessons they've learned, will not only help more interpreters to deepen their understandings about China's foreign aid,but also provide references for similar interpretation tasks in the future. This report is based on the author's practice as an interpreter for a lecture of the 2015 Seminar on Textile Industry Management for Pakistani Officials. The first half of the lecture is very technical, covering the R&D of CoolDry fiber, the structural design of the fabric, special dyeing and finishing processes, and the application of CoolDry products;the second half is for Q&A and sample demonstration, which is highly interactive.By introducing Daniel Gile's comprehension equation theory and theories of New Rhetoric, this report aims to analyze and summarize the challenges in this consecutive interpreting practice, probe into the causes of challenges, seek possible coping strategies and put forward improved versions. The comprehension equation shows that comprehension is the result of interaction between knowledge of the language,extra-linguistic knowledge and analysis. The New Rhetoric focuses on the audience and highlights researches on contexts and the rhetorical power of utterance, which provides a new perspective for interpreting studies.Through case analysis in the report, the author discovers that interpreters often find themselves in the mire due to phonetic barriers, terminology, long and difficult sentences, and a lack of topic knowledge when the source speech is quite specialized. In such cases,a flexible application of analysis will come to their rescue and enhance their comprehension speed and interpreting quality. At the interpretation production stage, the theories of New Rhetoric will lead interpreters to pay attention to the audience' s need and limitation, apply appropriate appealing approaches and proper expressions to improve the rhetorical effect of their interpreting on the basis of retaining the faithfulness of the information,so as to better convince the audience. Therefore, accumulating knowledge of the language, expanding one's scope of extra-linguistic knowledge, learning to apply analytical methods, and fostering an audience-centered "Rhetoric Concept" in interpreting will be conducive to stepping up an interpreter's pre-interpretation preparation efficiency, listening ability, fluency of expression, psychological endurance and capacity of coping with the emergency.
