| As one type of news,soft news possesses the power to influence readers emotionally and satisfy their increasing and various reading requirements.Therefore,its E-C translation and dissemination should deserve attention.This report aims at analyzing E-C translation of soft news by comparing source texts of soft news selected from some authoritative English news websites with their respective translations translated by the author and posted on iNews China Daily under the guideline of Nida's functional equivalence theory.Through the analysis of problems and difficulties in translation procedures,the report comes to the conclusion that functional equivalence theory is able to guide translators in delivering original information,style and attitude as well as ensuring that the translation could conform to grammatical rules and expression habits of the target language during E-C translation of soft news.From this translation practice,the author has gained a lot and improved theoretical knowledge as well as practical ability of translation.The author hopes that this report could provide some useful experience for E-C translation of soft news. |
