In this translation practice, the original text is chosen from The Other Australia, and the translator chose the second chapter as the practical text.In this chapter,we can know that between 1901 and 1945,Australia took a lot of measures against immigrants from non-English-speaking countries, including The White Australia Policy,Dictation Test and etc.The translation case analysis is the central part of the report, based on the Skopos Theory and three principles, the translator analyzes some translation strategies used during the translation.Since there are many uses of the passive voice appearing in the text, and the translator encounters some difficulties when translating them.Consequently the translator classifies and sorts those passive voices and proposes four strategies.Although the logic of the original text is clear, many anaphoric references are presented by using demonstrative pronouns, and the translator also encounters some difficulties when translating these pronouns. In this case, the translator develops two kinds of methods for translating demonstrative pronouns. The translator hopes that readers can gain a deep understanding about the society and culture of Australia through the translation version and also wishes that some methods discussed in this report could provide references for the translation of similar texts.
