This article is an English-Chinese translation practice report.The text type is non-literary translation.The original text of the project is selected from the book The Natural Resources of Australia,which focuses on the assessment of land resources in Australia.The language of the article is rigorous and concise,and the structure of the text is compact.The translator is guided by Vermeer's skopos theory,which includes three principles: skopos principle,coherence principle and faithfulness principle.In translating this article,the translator has two difficulties.One is the translation of passive voice and the other is the translation of words.Therefore,the translator solves the difficulties of passive voice in translation by transforming the passive voice into the active voice and the passive voice into the sentences without subject.The translator also solves the difficulties during translating certain words by choosing right word meanings and the conversion.The translator hopes that the skills and strategies of non-literary translation summarized in this translation practice can provide reference for relevant translation activities.
