The source text of this report is selected from the seven chapter"Petroleum,Coal and Uranium:A Case Study in Production,Technology and Consumption" of the book The Natural Resources of Australia.This chapter mainly focuses on the discovery,production and reserves of petroleum and coal.The type of the text belongs to informative text and it is a brief introduction to Australia's petroleum and coal.This report can be divided into four parts,including translation task description,translation process description,case analysis and conclusion.The third part is the core chapter of this report.Under the guidance of skopos theory,this paper analyzes the process of E-C translation of the source text from the lexical level and syntactical level combined with cases analysis.At the lexical level,this report mainly solves the translation difficulties of professional terms by analyzing the context of the original text.At the syntactic level,this report mainly solves the translation difficulties of long sentences through the linear translation and inversion.What's more,this paper also solves the translation difficulties of the passive voice by keeping the passive voice unchanged,translating it into active sentences and translating it into non-subject sentences.Meanwhile,the translation strategies summarizes in this practice also provide a reference for other translators and readers who study the natural resources of Australia.
