| With the rapid development of global economy and trade, business activities of domestic enterprises have become more and more internationalized.Business English is now a compulsory course for Chinese corporate managers. Therefore, the Chinese translation of the classical Business English textbooks appears particularly important. As a classic business textbook,Business is technical, and the selected material language has the professional characteristics of business text. The report,on the basis of Nida’s functional equivalence theory, takes Business as an example, aiming to explore the professional features of such texts and the effective translation strategies and methods available in the process of the Chinese translation. The frequency of attributive clauses in the text is relatively high, and its translation quality directly affects the accuracy and validity of the original text information transmission. The report, based on the examples, analyzes the structural characteristics and semantic features of attributive clauses and surnmarizes the effective translation methods for attributive clauses in Business as follows:For the restrictive attributive clauses, translation methods of postponement,coordinating,simplification,subject-predicate adjustment, adverbialization should be adopted;for the non-restrictive attributive clauses, translation methods of linear translation, independent sentence formation, fronting and adverbialization could be used.In the process of translation, the translator should conform to the expression habit of the target language on the basis of being loyal to the original meaning, selecting the appropriate methods according to the characteristics of the clause to translate the original text faithfully, accurately and fluently so as to achieve the functional equivalence of the original and the translation. |
