| Globalization has become an irreversible trend in today’ s world.The advancement of science and technology has greatly reduced distance and travel time,making it easier for people from different cultures to communicate with each other.Shandong Province and South Australia are sister provinces.In the past three decades,the bilateral relationship has been going from strength to strength with frequent cultural exchanges.Consecutive interpreting is common in formal meetings and conferences and it was adopted at the Shandong-South Australia Cultural Co-operation Forum of 2017.This report is a reflection on the interpreter’s performance during this forum with the guidance of Effort Models theory and it can be divided into four chapters.Chapter One mainly introduces the background and preparation work for this forum.Then the author gives an introduction about the Effort Models theory initiated by Daniel Gile in Chapter Two.Chapter Three is a core part of this report,in which the author analyzes his interpreting recordings and notes,extracts fourteen examples to underline factors that may influence the interpreting performance.Chapter Four is the feedback from clients and self-reflection on his interpretation performance during the meeting.By analyzing the recordings and notes of this interpreting task,he hopes to share with interpreting learners and those who are interested in interpreting some real and authentic examples to help them have a better understanding of the effort model and distribute their efforts more scientifically during the consecutive interpretation. |
