A Practice Report On C-E Consecutive Interpreting For Belt And Road Forum Held By School Of Marxism Swust

With the advance of globalization and regional integration,exchanges among countries across economy,culture and politics are becoming increasingly frequent than ever.In the context of cross-cultural and cross-field communication,interpreting plays a tremendous role in this process.The interpreting competence of interpreters is also put to a great test.Accurate and fluent interpretation plays an important role in communication in various fields.But in the real interpreting scenario,the interpreter is likely to be overwhelmed by the various problems cropping up due to limited availability of energy.Among all the interpreting theories prevalent today,Gile's Effort Model is a very useful and influential model for interpreting research.It provides an equation for interpreting,telling that the comprehension during interpreting is the result of the combination of linguistic knowledge,extra-linguistic knowledge and listening analysis.The most optimal interpretation is possible on the basis of a perfect coordination of listening comprehension,note-taking,memory and interpretation output.This practice report is built on the basis of the consecutive interpreting services the author provided to two “Belt and Road Initiative” international forums hosted by Marxism School of SWUST.In this thesis,the author makes a full analysis of certain interpreting methods he applied to deliver desirable renderings during the on-site interpreting.From the perspective of Gile's Effort Model for consecutive interpreting,the author investigates the interpreting techniques he adopted for his interpretation,including free translation,omission and simplification in different situations.The author also explains how these techniques will help to produce renderings that are more adaptive and accessible to the target audience.It is expected that the reflection of the CI,relevant theory illustration and detailed analysis on the interpreting techniques deployment will lay a more solid foundation for the author's future career and contribute to the author's flexible deployment of various interpreting skills.Also the author will be flattered enough if this thesis is helpful for interpreting lovers to improve their understandings and application of interpreting techniques.
