A Practice Report On C-E Translation Of Introduction To Huai'an City

This translation report is based on the author's C-E translation practice of a publicity text,which is the introduction to Huai'an city.This kind of text has its own distinctive stylistic and linguistic features.Several main translation difficulties including culture-loaded words,four-character Chinese phrases,and non-subject sentences are analyzed.To deal with these difficulties,such strategies as explanation,amplification and reorganization are suggested in this report.This report is divided into three parts.In the first part,the author introduces the task and the preparation before the translation.In the second part,the author introduces the features of the source text.In the third part,the author discusses the main difficulties in translation and the strategies to them.The several difficulties and their strategies given in this report may lay the foundation for the translation of some other similar texts in the future.Also,the English version of the introduction to Huai'an city plays an important role for Huai'an's publicity.
