The Female Time Of Pai Hsien-yung's Short Stories

Xia Zhiqing once said that Pai Hsien-yung is a rare wizard in contemporary short stories,and shows the great charm of his short stories.In 1880 s,Pai Hsien-yung's literary works began to spread on the mainland and enjoyed by readers.So far,he has been famous at home and abroad.In the short story collection "lonely seventeen","New Yorkers" and "Taipei people",Pai Hsien-yung portrayed the complex and varied female images.The ups and downs of childhood experiences make Pai Hsien-yung sensitive to time different from ordinary people,while special family environment and homosexual orientation make him more sympathetic to women.The elements of "women" and "time" naturally merged into each other,showing a special state.This paper,based on Henry Bergson's time theory and Julia Chris' s "Woman time",discusses the construction strategy of female time in Pai Hsien-yung's short stories,the time form and the main characteristics,and probes into the particularity and significance of Pai Hsien-yung's female time.The article is divided into three parts: the first part is the introduction,which mainly introduces the writer's creative life,the publication of his works in the mainland,the current research status at home and abroad,and the significance of the research.The second part is the main part,which is divided into three chapters.The first chapter is divided into two sections,mainly expounds the strategy of constructing women's time in short stories.The first part,through the survival state of women in the linear time,it is found that women are inirrationality in linear time,and women can accomplish linear time paradox by ignoring and escaping linear time.In the second part,the construction of women's own time is mainly through three basic ways,which are the enhancement of individual time,the spatialization of time and the aggregation of the same time.The second chapter is the form and characteristics of female time.Female time field is gradually formed,and presents a variety of forms,with the approximate shape of the time,the three types of women's time are summed up as "whirlpool","Butterfly" and "fan-shaped".At the same time,it corresponds to the eternal,recurrent and continuous characteristics of female time.The third chapter discusses the particularity of Female time in Pai Hsien-yung 's short stories,and explores the significance of Pai Hsien-yung 's female time.From a feminist perspective,a new interpretation of time in Pai Hsien-yung 's novels is intended to explore women's Liberation in the time domain.At the same time,taking text as a case,we explore the new time imagination and its limitations.The third part is epilogue.It puts forward the value and thinking of Androgyny in the female time.
