| With the accelerating process of globalization, medical exchanges between countries are becoming more and more frequent, thus medical translation is becoming increasingly prominent in this field.Medical translation is the communication link of new medical technology at home and abroad. On the one hand,it can help domestic medical staff learn foreign advanced skills, and improve their medical technology level;on the other hand,it is also conducive to the communication of precious treating experience between medical care personnel, therefore, medical translation has a strong practical value. The original text of the report is from a best-selling medical book Healing Psoriasis-The Natural Alternative, written by American psoriasis expert--Professor John O.A.Pagano.There is no Chinese translation version at present. The book not only explains the causes of psoriasis, but also promotes the natural alternative therapy instead of providing temporary solutions to the problems. The book enumerates many successful cases in detail, which brings new hope to psoriasis patients as well as improves the healing rates of psoriasis by learning the therapy. This paper attempts to explore the translation strategies of medical texts from the perspective of Skopos theory. This theory focuses more on communicative goal rather than the original text,so that the translator has greater flexibility and manipulation.Under the guidance of Skopos theory, the author applies the appropriate translation strategies, and translates the content faithfully and coherently within the acceptance of the readers. The whole translation report is made up of five parts. In the first chapter, the author describes the process of translation task and its value. The second chapter presents the literature review of Skopos theory and some relevant medical translation researches. The third chapter is a brief description of this translation process, including preparation before translation and post-translation work. The fourth chapter is the key chapter of this translation report.Based on the stylistic features of medical texts, the author discusses the application of Skopos theory in the translation ofmedical texts minutely, and summarizes the difficulties and reasonable solutions in the translation process from the word to sentence level. The last chapter is the summary of translation experience and in this part the author puts forward some feasible suggestions. The author believes that when translating medical texts,we must fully understand not only the literal meaning of the original text, but also its context meaning. The translation of terms must conform to the existing norms.Sentence translation needs to always put accuracy in the first place and it must satisfy the reading habits of target audiences. |
