Established by the famous French translator Danica Seleskovitch, the interpretive theory of translation is highly valued in the fields of translation especially in interpreting studies for its systematicness and the guidance it provided for interpreting practice.Based on the author's experience as the interpreter for the business conferences of SC&W Solutions Ltd.in China, this report will provide an analysis of the application of interpretive theory in interpreting practice with the examples selected from the author's interpreting experiences. The author gives a brief introduction to the background of this interpreting task in the first chapter, including the introduction to the SC&W Solutions Ltd.,verbal and non-verbal difficulties he met in this task. There were also information about the preparation of this task as well as the interpreting process. The second chapter is mainly about the origin and development of the interpretive theory, focusing on the two key parts of the theory—deverbalization and the triangular model in interpreting, which had provided great guidance in the author 's interpreting practice.Following is the analysis about the cases he had in the interpreting process, which are enumerated to discuss the application of interpretive theory in his practice. Then the author reflects on this interpreting task and concludes the experience he accumulated in this mission.Under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory, the author realizes that interpreting should be considered as a kind of communication which focuses on the transmission of messages instead of basic language elements such as words or sentences, which certainly helps the author fulfill the mission of translation and communication.
