The financial industry is developing dramatically, and the integration of technology and finance is becoming increasingly close, which will become a mainstream trend in the future. In this context,it is necessary to promptly popularize the latest fintech developments to the public. This report is based on the translation of excerpts(Chapter 2,6 and 8)from Fintch in a Flash. As a financial text,it covers an array of hot topics such as online payments,crowd-funding,challenger banks, online insurance, and big data, and it aims to expound the key concepts in this field to its readers.Peter Newmark,an English translation theorist, once divided all texts into six categories, among which the three major ones are expressive text, informative text and vocative text.He then put forward the concepts of semantic translation and communicative translation accordingly, which are meant for different sorts of texts.Fintech in a Flash, the translation project the author participated in,is a non-literary work.It focuses on the delivery of the contents and the acceptability of its target readers,in other words,it is a typical informative text. Thus, referring to Newmark's communicative translation theory in the translation process is of great guiding significance.Right under the guidance of communicative translation theory, the author of this report analyzes the difficulties and challenges she has encountered at lexical and syntactic levels in the above financial text, and enumerates specific cases to summarize the translation techniques she has used in the translation process, such as free translation, meaning extension, long sentence rearrangement, addition, and so on,so as to produce on its target readers an effect as close as possible to that obtained on the original text readers.Last, the author reflects on the lessons she has learned from the translation task, and aims to provide some references for relevant practice, namely, the translation of similar financial texts.
