Functionalist Skopos Theory holds that translation is a purposeful activity and purpose is regarded as the highest rule of translation tasks.All translation strategies and methods are decided by the purpose,which provides a new perspective for translation studies.Technical information aims to convey objective information such as truth,principles or methods in an accurate and standardized way.Interpreters can adopt appropriate interpreting strategies in accordance with the fields,content,purposes and functions of the technical information to accomplish the task.In this case,the Functionalist Skopos Theory can be of great value in technical interpreting.The Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China has launched a series of Aid Training Courses targeted at the developing countries in Asia,Africa and Latin America.The author took part in the Clean Energy Training Course as the interpreter.Due to limited bilingual ability and interpreting experience as well as the difficulties in technical interpreting,the interpreter come across some obstacles in achieving the purpose of communication,intra-lingual coherence and extra-lingual coherence,such as terminologies,category words,leading to some ineffective communication.In this report,the author chooses some typical cases,analyzes those interpreting obstacles and comes up with corresponding coping strategies such as omission,explanation,under the guidance of three rules of FST.Other useful suggestions are also put forward such as strengthening of bilingual foundation,expansion of knowledge reserve and the utilization of interpreting strategies.This report deals with the cases analysis in the technical interpreting on clean energy under the guidance of the FST.Targeted strategies and suggestions are provided for further improvement of the author's interpreting ability and a reference for teaching and research of interpreting.
