The Phonetic Research Of Si Yin Bian Yao

Si Yin Bian Yao is a speech recognition for literacy speech dialect dictionary,which author is the champion at the late Qing Dynasty.His name is Luo Chengxiang,from Zi Zhou of Sichuan Province.The phonology of this book,which represents the Sichuan Zizhong dialect at the end of the nineteenth Century,provides us with new materials for the study and comparison of modern Sichuan dialect.In this paper,the main research object is the catalogue of this book,and the entry of the text is used as supplement for the reference.The purpose of this paper is to construct the phonology of the book and to explore its characteristics and nature,and to determine when and where the dialect is the object of the description.On the basis of this,we constructe the system of phonology,rhyme and tone respectively by means of statistics and induction.Then through synchronic and diachronic comparisons,it reflects the nature of its time and region.And the full text is divided into seven parts.The first part is the introduction.Explain the research object,significance of the topic and research methods,and introduces the research status of Luo Cheng and modern Sichuan dialect special book research.The second part is Luo Chengxiang and Si Yin Bian Yao.This partr mainly introduces the story of Luo Chengxiang and the version,background,style,and assessment of this book.So,it prerent a preliminary understanding of Luo Chengxiang and Si Yin Bian Yao.The third part is the phonological constitution of Si Yin Bian Yao.In the basic of the situation of the initial consonant,rhyme and tone and so on,we construct the system of initial consonant and rhyme.And construct tone system according to the statistics.There are 20 consonants,37 vowels and 4 tones.The fourth part is the consonant system reflected by Si Yin Bian Yao.Compare to the ancient Chinese phonetic system,it has theses characteristicsis such as the full-voiced initials devocing,the labiodental differentiation,the division of Ni and Lai,the group of Jing Zhi Zhang Zhuang has merged,the words from the group of Jing and Jian has palatalized and no difference in the pronunciation of Jiantuan,zero consonant has expanded,the group of Xiao and Fei has mixed.Through the consonantcomparison,it is found that the consonant system is the same as the modern Chengdu dialect and Zizhong dialect.The fifth part is the rhyme system reflected by Si Yin Bian Yao.It is known that the rhyme and vowels are further divided and merged through the corresponding relationship diagram between Yin Bian Yao and Zhong Yuan Yin Yun.It has these features such as the coda[-m] has translate into coda [-n],the coda[-n] has confused with coda[-?],and the coda of entering tone has disappeared.From the final synchronic comparison and rhyme system comparison,it founded that the rhymel system is more close to the modern Zizhong dialect.However,it is still evoluting.So,we concluded that the phonology of Si Yin Bian Yao is modernZizhong dialect.The sixth part is the tone system reflected by Si Yin Bian Yao.The tone system has three characteristics that the level tone is divided into level tone and rising tone,the voiced sounds of the falling-rising tone turned into falling tone and the entering tone is sended to the rising tone.And the synchronic comparison between the consonants verifies that the phonology is close to the Modern Phonology.The seventh part is the conclusion.Summing up the characteristics of Luo Chengxuan and the phonology of Si Yin Bian Yao.
