From the end of the Qianlong Period to the early Guangxu period, with the change in the way Western learning entered China, the way and mentality of Chinese intellectuals accepting Western learning have also changed. This is reflected in the text involving Western learning in sketchbooks of various periods.During the Qianlong and Jiaqin periods, the introduction of Western studies was mainly based on the missionaries who came to China. When Chinese intellectuals represented by Ji Yun faced Western learning, they had a curiosity about western learning, and they held the Western science and technology available.Pushing and affirming, but he cannot escape his identity and cannot increase his perceptual understanding of Western science and technology to rational understanding. Therefore,Ji Yun used western learning as an anecdote in his “Yuewei Caotang Notes” and accepted his Western studies. It is a kind of passive acceptance that has been paralyzed by the times and is of practical value. After Daoguang, the country opened its doors and exchanges between China and the West gradually increased. From Mao Xianglin's “Ink Residue Record” to the new depiction of society,we can learn that advanced intellectuals in this period have turned their attention to advanced Western science and technology, machine production, and national conditions, and have turned to Western culture in China. With regard to changes, they are no longer just one-sided and passively accepted for practical purposes.Instead, they use the ideas of the world to actively learn Western knowledge of the artifacts in an attempt to save China's peril.During the reign of Guangxu, the modernity awakens in the sketchbooks.Wang Tao's“Invisible Record of Hidden Feelings” is similar to the “Liao Zhai” brushstrokes. The characters of the novels gradually move from the mortal beings in the traditional notes to the overseas characters. The characters are full of the colors of the national metaphors. In the attitude of western learning, during this period, intellectuals represented by Wang Shuo took the initiative to learn Western learning. The learning content of Western learning also expanded from a dotted line to a three-dimensional three-dimensional,artifact-like structure that rose tothe system level. They wanted to actively learn Western science and technology. The system to save the country, this kind of initiative modern thinking is clearly visible in the "Invisible Record".From Qianjia to the late Qing Dynasty, and from Ji Yun to Wang Tao,the intellectuals' understanding of Western learning has gradually deepened, and their attitudes towards Western learning have also been changing. It is in this change that China gradually converged with the West and gradually realized The modernization process. The process of accepting changes in Western culture at that time was enough to provide reference and reference for us today.
