As one of the core curriculums aiming to cultivate an air of politeness and educatedness among vocational students.The course of “College Chinese” plays an extremely important role in improving students' ability to listen,speak,read and write.The status quo of the course in higher vocational colleges is confronted with inefficient and even invalid teaching effect.Against the backdrop of this era of Internet,conditions and approaches of both teaching and learning are undergoing profound changes.The theory of connectivism,known as the learning theory in digital age,not only guides the teaching of “College Chinese” theoretically and practically,but offers a new perspective and methodological reference for the study on the teaching reform and effective teaching in higher vocational colleges.This paper mainly adopts research methods of questionnaire survey,interviews,and in-class observation to analyze the practical situation of “College Chinese” class teaching.It is then draws a conclusion that the problem when teaching that course is two-fold,with one being misguidance of teaching theory,and the other unsuitable teaching method and philosophy.The paper analyzes it as follows.Firstly,by jointly using methods of questionnaire survey and interview,the paper tries to understand the current teaching situation of the “College Chinese” course in polytechnic colleges in China and then concluded main factors affecting the effective teaching of that curriculum.Secondly,the paper,by drawing a comparative analysis on theories of effective teaching of the Chinese course in higher vocational schools,led to the rationality and necessity of the connectivism theory.Thirdly,on the basis of related principles on practice,knowledge and learning of the theory,the paper proposes corresponding strategies of driving the teaching of “College Chinese” course for vocational students towards effective outcomes.Concretely speaking,these strategies for promoting efficient in-class teaching can be listed as: upgrading teaching philosophy,reforming traditional course design,applying information skills into teaching,focusing on personal knowledge management and improving the ability to acquisition,coupled with expanding knowledge obtaining channels,to name just a few.It can be concluded from the study that the status quo of the “College Chinese” teaching in vocation-oriented colleges is unsatisfying.It is resulted not only from the inappropriacy in teaching philosophy and pedagogic principles,but the misleading of theoretical guidance.As a learning theory in this information era,connectivism is capable to guide the teaching of “College Chinese” course in higher vocational colleges.Its views on knowledge,learning and practice can inspire us when settling problems like inefficient class or valid teaching,and when seeking to improve the effectiveness,efficiency and outcome for both teaching and learning.
