This report is based on the book Make Your Bed written by Admiral William H.McRaven who was the general commander of American Navy SEALs.There are 10 chapters and 13,576 words in this book. The book features authenticity and literariness, and in the aspect of expressiveness, the language of this book is simple, natural and vivid, which can be seen from the frequent use of verbs and vivid descriptions with sensory details. So the main translation problem and research question of this report is how to present a natural and vivid translation text to attract Chinese readers.Based on the text features, key points and difficult points of the translation, under the guidance of Newmark's translation theory of semantic translation and communicative translation, three kinds of translation problems are studied in this report. The first is the translation of headline and chapter names;the second is the translation of descriptive sentences with multiple verbs;and the third one is the translation of descriptive sentences with sensory details.Facing those research questions, the translator finds that rewriting applies to translating the headline and chapter names;lexical choice and conversion are good ways to translate the descriptive sentences with multiple verbs;and the amplification and four-character phraseology are suitable for the translation of descriptive sentences with sensory details.Under the guidance of Newmark's translation theory of semantic translation and communicative translation, this report not only analyses the key points and difficult points encountered in the process of the translation with the related examples, but also puts forwards the corresponding translation methods.Besides, the translator also shares the major findings, limitations and suggestions on future translation in this part.
