In honor of the 20 th anniversary of the establishment of China and South Korea diplomatic relation and meet to the need of Chinese teachers for Korea primary schools and secondary schools,Chinese Program in Korea,shortened as ‘CPIK',is initiated.Since 2012,Hanban send more than 200 Chinese volunteer teachers to South Korea yearly,teaching Chinese there.Chinese volunteer teachers is increasing progressively year by year,and teaching in more than 350 Korea primary schools and secondary schools.Author is fortunate to be one of the CPIK volunteers,and in 2016 teaching Chinese for one year in Gyeongsangbuk-do,South Korea.Based on the personal experience of author,the operational aspect of CPIK in Gyeongsangbuk-do will be investigated and surveyed in this article.This paper consists of three parts: The development process of CPIK is introduced briefly and the operational condition of CPIK in Gyeongsangbuk-do,including the volunteers distribution,the selection rate of Chinese,school type,settings of the courses,the situation of Chinese and Korea teacher's collaboration and so on is analyzed in the first part.In the second section,the volunteers of CPIK in Gyeongsangbuk-do is investigated so that the existence problems of CPIK,regard to the training of Chinese Hanban and NIIED,collaboration between Chinese teachers and Korea teachers,CPIK project management of Gyeongsangbuk-do Education Department,is concluded.In addition,typical cases are cited to discuss the way to give play to the motility of volunteers to face the difficulties and teaching Chinese actively under unique geographical conditions.In the end,suggestions corresponding to CPIK participant including CPIK volunteers,Chinese Hanban,NIIED,Gyeongsangbuk-do Education Department is making to expect the perfection of CPIK in Gyeongsangbuk-do.The characteristic and problems of CPIK in Gyeongsangbuk-do are summarized and corresponding suggestions are proposed in this paper.This paper concentrates on ways for CPIK volunteers to teach Chinese better in particular Chinese teachingenvironment.The proposals and suggestions proposed for CPIK participants are intended to solve the operational problems of CPIK,expecting to achieve continuous improvement of CPIK in Gyeongsangbuk-do,South Korea that will promote healthy development of CPIK.
