And the total number rapidly is increasing every year. Chinese language teachers work very hard with their sweat and selfless dedication, which gives a good impression to the people all over the world. They are also known as the "angel" from China and "the most lovable man". However, the research on Chinese language teachers more focuses on the project implementation and Chinese teaching methods. There are very little research on their living and working conditions overseas, and even less on their psychological condition. In addition, the main force of the Chinese language teachers are students who are just out of college or still go on with their post-graduate studies. They are lack of practical work experience and teaching experience; they have poor communication skills and interpersonal skills. For the education concepts in other counties may be different from those in China. The Chinese language teachers would have to learn from the beginning, which increased their burden. Finally, in our traditional culture, it is a very embarrassing thing to seek psychological help. To admit their psychological problems is to be considered a very shameful thing, so most people would choose to keep silent when they encounter psychological problems.Shang Mingxia’s(2012) research on the Chinese teachers who work in Thailand finds that there is a part of the teachers don’t adapt to the new situation very well, 2% of the teachers hope to terminate their work and come back home in advance, 5% of the teachers do not adapt very well, 1-2% of the teachers have some psychological problems. In 1948, the world health organization pointed out: "Health includes not only the physical health, but also psychological and social adaptation health, which is not only the absence of disease and weak phenomenon." Chinese teachers’ living conditions abroad have been greatly improved recently, but Chinese teachers may still encounter some difficulties on the psychological and social adaptation. Although the Chinese teachers will all take a psychological test before they are sent abroad, after sending out there are no more attention paid on the psychological health of the teachers. Psychology problems may have a potential negative effect on the teachers. This research focuses on the teachers who took part in the CPIK, aiming to explore the teachers’ psychological condition. In this research, questionnaires are used to investigate the condition of the teachers, interview and typical cases analyses are also used. We find that the partner teacher, social support and self-awareness, are the most important factors on the psychological condition of the teachers; Similar experience and work environment also has a certain impact, but not as much as the former three ones; Language ability and the psychological situation has the opposite relationship. This research can help Chinese language teachers better adapt to overseas life and complete the teaching mission, can also help to manage the Chinese language teacher overseas. At the same time, it can also provide some suggestions for the language teachers’ training. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | CPIK, Chinese Language Teacher, Psychology Investigation, Korea | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
