A Report On The C-e Translation Of The 2016 Annual Report Of Urumqi Customs

The source text of this C-E translation practice is 2016 Annual Work Report of Urumqi Customs,which includes five parts,separately elaborating the review of the previous work,the main tasks of a new year and data statistics.As an important material for publicity,the report featured by political style is worth to be translated into English.In addition,the report is featured with practical style with exact practicality and purpose,covering several aspects of political,science and technology,service,reform,team construction and others.The report is objective,clear,formal,and rich in Chinese characteristics and new words,which makes it difficult to translate into English.Besides,since some businesses of customs have done business with foreign countries,the translation of the report could,to a certain extent,promote the development of customs with the efforts of customs and government,and play an important role in publicity.Based on three principles of Skopos theory,the characteristics of the source text are analyzed from the aspects of vocabulary,syntax and discourse.There are five parts in this report.The first chapter is introduction,which introduces background information of this translation task.The second chapter is task description.Analysis of source text and requirements from the entrusting party are described in this part.The third chapter is the detailed description of the translation process(before translation,while translation and after translation).The fourth chapter introduces some problems encountered in the translation process with exact examples;translation skill mainly cover literal translation,literal translation with notes,free translation,word conversion,amplification and so on.The fifth chapter summarizes this report,speaking highly of the importance of preparation before translation and the guidance of translation theory.The translator needs to strengthen connotation of Bi-culture.
