With the global trend of Mandarin Fever,more and more foreigners come to China to study Chinese,which made Chinese as a foreign language be greatly concerned.As a teaching of second language,it aims to cultivate the students' interpersonal skills in Chinese.However,cultivation about interpersonal skills was concerned by people,which fastens on dialogue,neglecting the fact that passage expression is also a major part of interpersonal skills.Though many scholars have realized to train students' ability in passage expression,their researches is based on paper work and theories.Practically,teachers who work in the field of Chinese as a foreign language prefer to teach their students vocabulary,sentences and grammar.In the beginning,learners can't do an effective exchange for lacking solid knowledge.So textbooks for beginners who study Chinese,especially for the practices after the passage in textbook are the major sources to train their capacity in passage expression.Liuxun(2005)who pointed out that “the practices after the passage in textbook should be the major role in language textbook and not be a ‘tail'after the passage”.Hence,to train learners' ability in passage expression,practices about passage expression after a passage in the textbook should be greatly concerned.The paper concluded the research status of primary Chinese-teaching textbooks and practices after passages in textbooks as well as passage expression.Combining theories about psychology,text linguistics,writing as well as passage expression,the passage compared Primary Oral Chinese and Spread Chinese-Primary Oral Chinese,two textbooks which are designed for primary learners who learn Chinese and are being compiled,trying to conduct a systematically analysis about the practices after passages in textbooks for primary Chinese learners via the comparing of the quantity,type,layout,function and characteristics of those practices which are related to passage expression.The paper summarized the advantages of the two passages.For example,they are basically designed for learners who study passage expression in Chinese,and the training about vocabulary,grammar,sentences lay a solid foundation for the practicesabout passage expression and the passage expression is operative.However,it also pointed out the disadvantages of the books,such as few practices about passage expression,single form about passage expression,unreasonable proportion and type about the practices which are related to passage expression and neglecting the practices about passage expression whose forms are related to linkage,argumentation,expository and narration.Aiming at those pros and cons,the passage offers some suggestions,wishing to attract the attention on passage expression from public and perfect the compiling of textbooks which focus on the practices about passage expression for beginners who study Chinese.
