| Guided by the principles of the translation of information texts,the information text Air Transport Services Group 2016 Annual Report was chosen by the report as an English-to-Chinese text.In terms of the vocabulary translation problems that appeared in the text,the report gave some relevant solutions according to the corresponding theories and strategies.Firstly,due to the differences in Sino-US context,it was easy to cause misunderstandings on the original text.As for the misunderstandings caused by the different cultural backgrounds of China and the United States,inappropriate choice on words' meaning due to lack of professional knowledge,the missing meaning caused by vocabulary inequality,the semantic mistranslation due to the ambiguity in lexical meaning,and stylistic misplacement caused by the inaccurate stylistic grasping,the translations used the following strategies to solve the responding problems: using the alienation to solve the problems of understanding bias,the cross-validation to solve the improper choice on words' meaning,the semantic compensation to solve the vocabulary inequality,supplementary translation to solve the problems of unclear referent.Finally,the practical report applied domestication to solve the problems of improper style.Through case analyzing and summarizing,it was proved that the above methods were effective in solving problems in Chinese translation of text vocabulary,thereby improving the quality of information text translation. |
